Samsung Frame TV Installation in Halifax

The Frame only works if it sits flat against the wall, dead level, with one thin cable disappearing somewhere sensible. Get those three right and it reads as art. Miss one and it reads as a TV wearing a picture frame.

From $129 before HST, pay after the job.

TV centred in a built-in media wall with the cables hidden

What is different about a Frame

It ships with the Slim Fit Wall Mount, a two-rail bracket that holds the TV with no gap. The electronics live in a separate One Connect box, and a single near-invisible cable, 5 metres on recent models, carries picture and power to the TV. The screen has a matte finish and swappable bezels. A 65-inch Frame weighs about 23 kilos, a 75 about 35.

Our process

  1. Wall type. Drywall on wood studs is the standard price. Plaster, concrete and metal studs get the usual add-ons and the anchors that go with them.
  2. Level within half a degree. A regular TV hides a slight tilt; a zero-gap frame on a wall shows it instantly. We set the rails with a laser line and check again with the TV on.
  3. Height like a painting. Centre at standing eye level, around 57 to 60 inches, in a hallway or dining room; at seated eye level in a TV room. You choose, we mark it in tape first.
  4. Where the One Connect goes. A console or cabinet below is simplest and free. A closet or cabinet on the other side of the wall also works. Samsung says not to put the box behind the TV, so we do not.
  5. The cable. Inside the wall through two low-profile plates for $119, or clipped and painted if the wall is solid. If there is no outlet near the box, the recessed power kit for $219 adds one without an electrician.

Light and placement

The matte screen handles reflections well, but direct sun from a window opposite still washes out Art Mode in the afternoon. If you have a choice of walls, pick the one the window does not face. A picture light above it is a nice touch and runs off the same outlet.

Other art TVs

Hisense CanvasTV, LG's Gallery OLEDs with their slim bracket, and Samsung's Serif follow the same rules: use the maker's slim mount, get it dead level, hide the one cable. Same prices as the Frame.

Before we arrive

Unbox the TV and keep every part of the Slim Fit mount, including the small spacers and the paper template; people throw the template out and it saves twenty minutes. Decide where the One Connect box will live and make sure there is an outlet within 1.5 metres of it, or tell us by text and we bring the recessed power kit. Pick two or three pieces of art before the visit so we can judge the height with a real picture on the screen rather than a menu.

If you ordered a bezel, have it on hand. Snapping it on after the TV is level takes a minute, and it hides the mount edges completely.

Questions we get about this

Do I need the Samsung mount or one of yours?

Use the Slim Fit mount that came in the box. Our brackets leave a gap and defeat the whole look. If yours is missing, buy the Samsung one for your size before the visit.

Can you hide the One Connect box?

Yes, in a console, a cabinet or a closet on the far side of the wall, with the cable run inside the wall for $119. Not behind the TV, which Samsung advises against because of heat.

Can a Frame go above a fireplace?

Yes, after the same heat check we do for any fireplace. The Slim Fit mount does not tilt, so height matters more here: as low as the mantel allows.

What if my wall is concrete?

Fine, add $59 for the anchors. There is no cavity for the cable, so it runs in a slim channel painted to match the wall for $49, or straight down behind a console.
