What the customer wanted
The TV had to go above the mantel, but nobody wanted to look up at it from the couch. The answer was a full-motion mount: the arm pulls the screen out and tilts it down to eye level, and pushes back flat against the wall when the TV is off.
Heat check before drilling
Above any fireplace we measure the temperature at TV height with the fireplace running before we drill. Here it stayed well inside the TV's limit, so the spot was safe. If it had not been, we would have said so and suggested a different wall.
Mounting
The bracket went into two studs with lag bolts. We checked level twice: on the bracket, and again with the TV hanging, because a full-motion arm shows any tilt the moment you pull it out.

Hiding the wires
Cables run inside the wall. A recessed power kit puts an outlet directly behind the TV and a matching plate down by the existing outlet, so the power cord and HDMI never show. It is a code-compliant kit, so no electrician is needed.
