What walls are common in Spryfield homes?

Plaster and lath, Armdale to Herring Cove. Anything built before about 1950 has plaster over wooden lath, and a stud finder reads nothing useful on it. We find the studs with a magnet and a pilot hole and use 3-inch lags into the framing, so the plaster carries no load and does not crack: +$20. Wires in a plaster wall usually go in a paintable channel for $49; the lath makes in-wall runs slow and we say so up front. Method in the plaster and lath guide, options in the hide TV wires in Halifax guide.

Drywall bungalows, Spryfield and Harrietsfield. 1950s to 1970s houses with drywall over wood studs, the standard $99 to $179 price in 45 to 60 minutes. Small living rooms mean the TV often sits across from a window; we check height and glare before we drill. Cables inside the wall for $119 are straightforward here.

Governor's Brook and the newer builds. Open-concept main floors, a gas fireplace on the feature wall and no outlet near the TV. Above the fireplace is +$69 after the heat check; in-wall cables with a recessed power kit, $219, keep the wall clean. Apartment blocks on Herring Cove Road can have concrete block walls, treated as concrete, +$59, see concrete walls.

How soon can you come to Spryfield?

Same day most days when you book before noon, evenings until 10pm, every day of the week. Spryfield is about 30 minutes from our base in Hammonds Plains by the 103 and the Armdale Rotary, Herring Cove and Sambro a little more, so we pair Spryfield jobs with Armdale or the South End on the same run. A drywall job takes 45 to 60 minutes; plaster or in-wall wiring 1.5 to 2 hours. 2-hour arrival window, a text when we are on the way, and $20 off if we miss the window.

Do you charge a travel fee to Spryfield?

No. Spryfield, Herring Cove, Sambro and everything down the loop road are Halifax Regional Municipality, and every HRM address is one flat price with no travel charge. Also serving Clayton Park and Timberlea on the other side of the 103. Text or WhatsApp the address to 782-446-6322 if you want it confirmed.

Questions from Spryfield customers

Will mounting a TV crack the plaster in my Armdale house?

Not when the weight is on the studs. We locate them with a magnet and a pilot hole, drill clean pilot holes through the plaster and lath, and drive 3-inch lags into the framing; the plaster only has to hold its own paint. Plaster adds $20 to the standard price.

Can the wires go inside a plaster wall?

Sometimes. Old houses often have a clear drop between studs, but the lath catches the fish tape, so it is slow, and we quote it at $119 only when the wall allows. The paintable channel for $49 is the honest default on plaster.

Do you come out to Sambro and Herring Cove?

Yes, same price and no travel fee; they are inside HRM. We usually pair them with other Spryfield-side jobs, so a half-day window gets you the earliest date.

Is there a surcharge for the apartments on Herring Cove Road?

Only if the wall is concrete block, +$59 for the anchors and dust control. Drywall on studs is the standard price. Renters: get the landlord's okay in writing and we set it up so it comes off clean at move-out.
